本辞典的特点如下:
一、本辞典共收针灸方面的常用词、常用术语946条。包括针灸名词、中医术语、经络、腧穴、针具、灸具、刺法、灸法、耳针、头针和常见病的诊断与针灸治疗。
二、本辞典收词标准为突出实用性。选词主要来源于孙国杰主编的由上海科学技术出版社于2001年8月出版的普通高等教育中医药类规划教材等。详见参考书目。
三、本辞典为中英文双解词典,其读者为操英语的外国人,以及既学习中医又学习英语的国人。因此,每条辞目皆不注明出处。
四、鉴于英语翻译中医针灸术语的难度及准确性,在撰写中文词条之释文时,尽力使用现代汉语,少用或不引用古代医学的原文。这是与当今出版的各种中医辞典区别之处,敬请读者见谅。
五、一词多义者,分1、2、3……逐项解释。内容互见者,列“详见××”或“参见××”,以示引导。
六、本辞典目录按汉语拼音字母次序排列,第一字音相同的,按第二个字的拼音字母次序排列,余依次类推,如“阿是穴”、“艾条”。
七、本辞典使用简体字,其依据为1964年中国文字改革委员会公布的《简化字总表》。
八、本辞典插入490多个图,应用更为方便。
九、图例:“——”本经有穴通路;“…”本经无穴通路;“o ”本经腧穴;“· ”常用腧穴;“△”他经腧穴。
Compilers Note
The dictionary has several characteristics below:
1.The dictionary collects 946 entries which are the common terms of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), including the terms in Acupuncturology, terms in TCM, Meridians and Collaterals, Acupoints, Needle Tool, Moxibustion Tool, Needling Technique, Moxibustion Method, Ear Acupuncture, Scalp Acupuncture and Diagnose and Acupuncture Treatment of Common Syndromes etc.
2.The collection of the main entries is focused on practicality. The sources of the entries selected are the national textbooks for TCM colleges, which had been compiled by chief editor Sun Guojie and had been printed by publishing company of Shanghai technology in August. 2001.etc.See the reference books.
3.As a ChineseEnglish Dictionary, it is designed for foreigners who speak English and Chinese who learn both TCM and English. Considering such users the sources of the terms are not presented in the dictionary with exception of the terms of Prescriptions of TCM.
4.Considering the difficulties and accuracy in translation, the interpretations are made in the modern Chinese instead of the ancient Chinese and the original texts of the ancient classics of TCM are avoided. The allowance is expected from the readers, for this is a difference of the dictionary from the other current dictionary of TCM.
5.For the terms with the polysemous connotations the separate interpretations are listed out with “1”,“2”, “3”, etc., the reference entries are introduced by cf.
6.The entries of this dictionary are arranged alphabetically. If the pronunciations of the first words are same, the order is arranged according to the alphabet of the second words, etc., e.g.,“ Ashixue,Aitiao”.
7.The simplified Chinese characters are used in the dictionary based on “The General List of the Simplified Chinese Characters ” issued by The Committee of Reforming Chinese Writing System in 1964.
8.The figures more than 490 intercalated in the dictionary, point located more convenient to its users.
9.Cutline:“—”this meridian point access,“…”this meridian without point access,“o” the meridian acupoint,“·” in common used point access,“△” else meridian acupoint.
